Our Story
Solo Satoshi began in May 2024 in a humble garage in Houston, Texas.
Matt and Hunter were co-workers in the high voltage electrical field, and they couldn’t ignore what they were seeing: Bitcoin mining was drifting toward becoming something only corporations could afford.
We believed the opposite. We believed home mining should be a right, not a luxury.
The first time we plugged a Bitaxe into the wall, the room hummed with more than just fans. It felt like a switch flipped. In minutes, we were mining, and we felt that quiet, powerful thing Bitcoin gives people: sovereignty.
That moment changed everything.
We promised ourselves we would lower the cost barrier, share real knowledge, and help anyone, anywhere experience that same first “I’m mining” moment, no gatekeepers required.
From the beginning, we have also been pioneers in the open-source Bitcoin mining space, pushing the tools, support, and community forward so more people can participate with confidence.
And in August 2025, we took the leap. We quit both of our jobs and went full time Solo Satoshi, all in on the mission we started in that garage.
Who Do We Serve?
We serve the builders, the curious, the stubbornly independent, and the people who believe decentralization is only real if regular people can participate.
We make Bitcoin home mining approachable through open-source devices like Bitaxe and Nerdaxe, backed by real support from people who actually use them.
If you’re brand new, we’re here to help you start confidently.
If you’re experienced, we’re here to help you push performance, learn faster, and go further.
How We Operate
We’re family-owned and operated, and we run Solo Satoshi like it matters, because it does.
Matt and Hunter handle the hard problems and the day-to-day hurdles of building a growing small business.
Kelsie, Hunter’s wife, oversees daily operations and order fulfillment. Every package that leaves Houston is handled with precision and care, because we know what it feels like to be on the other end of that delivery.
We were among the earliest Bitaxe adopters, and we became the dedicated help desk the space needed. Firmware flashes, overclocking, troubleshooting, solo-mining strategies: we walk with you through the learning curve, not just sell you a box and disappear.
We also take pride in boosting the economy by keeping work close to home. Many of our miners are assembled in the United States, supporting skilled hands, small suppliers, and the communities that keep real hardware moving.
In July 2024, a Bitaxe miner hit its first solo block, and it proved what we believed all along: small home mining devices can compete on the biggest stage.
Today, more than 40,000 Solo Satoshi-distributed devices are hashing in living rooms, garages, classrooms, and workshops across the world.
That’s decentralization in motion.
The Faces of Our Small Business
Solo Satoshi is built by real people, in the real world, with real hands on real hardware.
Matt: Founder, builder, problem-solver, and the person who refuses to quit when things get messy.
Hunter: Co-founder, hyper focused on operations, and relentlessly focused on making home mining accessible.
Kelsie: Fulfillment operations lead, full of great heartfelt ideas, the reason orders ship accurately, and the steady force behind the scenes.
Ryan: Customer support lead, helping customers troubleshoot issues, and feel confident with their hardware, from first boot to firmware updates and beyond.
Behind the scenes, it’s Houston. It’s late nights. It’s test benches and shipping stations. It’s doing things the hard way, the right way.
What’s Next?
We’re just getting started.
We’ll keep championing open-source Bitcoin home mining, refining Bitaxe and Nerdaxe, and building a global community where freedom, sovereignty, and home-grown innovation are the standard.
