Description

NerdQaxe++ Bitcoin Solo Miner: Complete Overview

The NerdQaxe++ is a quad-chip open-source Bitcoin solo miner built on four Bitmain BM1370 ASICs, the same SHA-256 chips used in the Antminer S21 Pro. At default settings (600 MHz, 1150 mV), the NerdQaxe++ produces 4.82 TH/s at 70.6 watts for an efficiency of 14.66 J/TH. Overclocked to 800 MHz and 1250 mV, output exceeds 6 TH/s at 103 watts (16.5 J/TH).

Revision 6.1 replaces the one-shot 8A mechanical fuse with intelligent power monitoring, upgrades the power input to an XT30 connector rated for 15A, and routes 1oz copper traces that reduce board temperatures by 21.4% compared to Revision 5, per FLIR thermographic testing. These changes eliminate the two most common failure modes in earlier NerdQaxe++ revisions: blown fuses during moderate overclocking and thermal throttling at the voltage regulators.

What Makes the NerdQaxe++ Revision 6.1 Different?

Earlier NerdQaxe++ revisions had two recurring problems: a one-shot 8A fuse that blew during moderate overclocking, and overheating power traces that limited long-term stability. Revision 6.1 solves both.

  • Fuse-Free Design: The mechanical one-use fuse is gone. Intelligent power monitoring replaces it. No more replacing fuses after a current spike.
  • XT30 Power Input: Replaces the old 8A barrel connector. Supports up to 15A without voltage sag, giving you clean headroom for overclocking.
  • 1oz Copper Traces: Improved trace layout lowers board temperatures by 21.4% compared to previous revisions. This directly improves clock stability at higher frequencies.
  • Spring-Mounted Heatsink: Maintains uniform pressure on all four BM1370 ASICs. Better thermal contact means better heat transfer and more consistent performance.
  • Relocated Temperature Sensors: Provides accurate ASIC temperature readings, so AxeOS shutdown protection works correctly.
  • 2mm FR-4 PCB: Increases board durability while staying lightweight.

Confirmed Bitcoin Block Wins Using NerdQaxe++ Hardware

The NerdQaxe++ is the only open-source desktop miner with three confirmed Bitcoin block wins. No competing retailer publishes this data with on-chain verification. Combined block rewards across all three NerdQaxe++ finds exceed $560,000.

Block Height Date Hardware Total Hashrate Pool Reward
Block #913,272 September 5, 2025 NerdQaxe++ ~4.8 TH/s Ocean Mining (pool) Proportional pool payout
Block #920,440 October 23, 2025 NerdQaxe++ Rev 6 cluster (6 units + 1 Avalon Q) ~130 TH/s Self-hosted Public Pool (Umbrel) ~3.15 BTC (~$342,000)
Block #944,078 April 7, 2026 Single NerdQaxe++ ~4.82 TH/s Noderunners ~3.13 BTC (~$217,700)

Block #944,078 was mined on April 7, 2026, by a single NerdQaxe++ unit hashing through the Noderunners solo mining pool. A single desktop miner running approximately 5 TH/s against a network exceeding 900 EH/s found a full Bitcoin block and earned 3.132 BTC. This is the first confirmed solo block win by a single NerdQaxe++ unit, not a cluster.
Block #920,440 remains the largest confirmed payout to an open-source home miner in Bitcoin history. That customer purchased his NerdQaxe++ Rev 6 units from Solo Satoshi and used the $342,000 reward to pay off his home.

All three blocks are verifiable on-chain at their respective block heights via mempool.space.

NerdQaxe++ Profitability: What to Expect

Profitability depends on your electricity cost, the current Bitcoin price, and whether you solo mine or pool mine. Here are the numbers as of April 2026.

Solo Mining (Lottery Mining): You compete independently for the full 3.125 BTC block subsidy plus transaction fees. At 4.8 TH/s against a network exceeding 900 EH/s (difficulty 138.97T as of April 2026), the statistical expected time to find a block solo is measured in thousands of years. Despite those odds, NerdQaxe++ hardware has found three confirmed Bitcoin blocks since September 2025, including one by a single unit. Unlikely does not mean impossible.

Pool Mining: Join a mining pool to earn consistent, proportional rewards. At current hashprice levels (~$30.67 per PH/s per day according to Hashrate Index), a single NerdQaxe++ at 4.8 TH/s earns roughly $0.15/day in gross Bitcoin revenue before electricity. NerdQaxe++ Electricity Cost at Common Rates

Electricity Rate ($/kWh) Daily Cost (Default, 70.6W) Daily Cost (Overclocked, 103W) Monthly Cost (Default)
$0.05 $0.08 $0.12 $2.54
$0.10 $0.17 $0.25 $5.09
$0.15 $0.25 $0.37 $7.63
$0.20 $0.34 $0.49 $10.17
$0.30 $0.51 $0.74 $15.26

Many NerdQaxe++ owners mine for education, supporting network decentralization, and the chance at a solo block, not purely for daily profit. At $0.10/kWh, a NerdQaxe++ costs less than $6/month to run 24/7.

How to Set Up Your NerdQaxe++

Setting up the NerdQaxe++ takes about five minutes. No software installation required. Everything runs through the browser-based AxeOS interface.

  1. Power On and Connect: Plug in the NerdQaxe++ using the included power supply. The miner broadcasts a Wi-Fi hotspot (SSID like “Nerdaxe_78B1”). Connect from your phone or computer.
  2. Configure Wi-Fi: Enter your home network credentials through the setup portal. If the portal does not appear automatically, navigate to 192.168.4.1 in your browser.
  3. Enter Your Bitcoin Address: Input any on-chain BTC wallet address. A SegWit address starting with bc1q works best.
  4. Select Your Pool: Choose solo mining via Public Pool or Solo CKPool, or connect to a payout pool like Ocean Mining or Braiins.
  5. Start Mining: Save settings. Your NerdQaxe++ is now hashing Bitcoin.
  6. See the complete NerdQaxe++ setup guide with screenshots and video.

    How to Overclock Your NerdQaxe++

    The NerdQaxe++ Revision 6.1 is designed for safe overclocking. The fuse-free power delivery and thicker copper traces give you clean headroom to push beyond stock settings.

    1. Open the AxeOS web interface by entering your NerdQaxe++ IP address in any browser.
    2. Navigate to the “Settings” tab.
    3. Scroll to “Mining Settings” and select the small square icon to unlock manual input.
    4. Raise “Frequency” in 25-50 MHz increments. Save and observe for several minutes.
    5. Only increase “Core Voltage” when frequency alone causes instability and temperatures remain safe.
    6. Set fan mode to manual at 100% speed during tuning.
    7. Never allow ASIC temperatures to exceed 75°C.
    8. Monitor hashrate, power draw, and temperatures on the dashboard.
    9. See the complete NerdQaxe++ overclocking guide with step-by-step screenshots.
