Description
This one-meter DC pigtail connects a compatible regulated 5V or 12V screw-terminal power supply to equipment with a 5.5 × 2.1 mm center-positive barrel input. Its right-angle male plug helps reduce cable projection behind the miner, while the red and black leads arrive stripped and tinned for integration into a properly protected DC harness.
5.5 × 2.1 mm Barrel Pigtail Specifications
| Specification | Details |
|---|---|
| DC connector | 5.5 mm outer × 2.1 mm inner male barrel plug |
| Orientation | 90-degree right angle |
| Polarity | Center positive when red is wired to V+ and black to V− |
| Cable | UL2464 two-conductor round cable, 16 AWG |
| Length | 1000 ± 20 mm |
| Lead preparation | Red and black conductors, stripped and tinned approximately 5 ± 1 mm |
| Power system | Regulated 5V or 12V DC when the device voltage, polarity, connector, current requirement, and complete circuit rating all match |
Compatible 5V and 12V Bitcoin Miners
Connector size alone does not prove compatibility. This passive pigtail can carry regulated 5V or 12V DC, but the miner voltage, center-positive polarity, 5.5 × 2.1 mm plug, current requirement, power-supply capacity, branch protection, and terminals must all match.
| Miner | Compatibility note |
|---|---|
| Bitaxe Gamma 602 | 5V DC, 5.5 × 2.1 mm center-positive input. The official Gamma hardware documentation calls for a supply above 4A/20W. |
| Bitaxe Gamma Duo 650 | 5V barrel-input model with a higher stock load than a single-chip Gamma; verify PSU capacity and connector temperature under load. |
| Nerdaxe Gamma Revision 2.3 | 5V, 5A minimum, more than 25W recommended, with a 5.5 × 2.1 mm center-positive input. |
| Bitaxe Supra | Compatible 5V barrel-input family; confirm the exact board revision and polarity before wiring. |
| Legacy NerdQaxe+ barrel-input revisions | Compatible only with older 12V models that use a 5.5 × 2.1 mm center-positive barrel input. Verify the exact hardware revision and required current. |
| Legacy NerdQaxe++ barrel-input revisions | Compatible only with pre-XT30 12V revisions. Current Revision 7 uses XT30 and does not accept this barrel plug. |
Not for current XT30 miners: do not use this barrel pigtail with a current Bitaxe GT, NerdQaxe++ Revision 7, Naja Duo, or Turbo Touch. Those miners use XT30 inputs. A matching voltage does not make a different connector or polarity safe.
Compatible 5V and 12V Power Supplies
- Mean Well LRS-50-5 50W 5V power supply for one appropriately configured 5V miner.
- Mean Well LRS-350-5 300W 5V power supply for a designed multi-miner 5V distribution system with an individually protected branch for every miner.
- Mean Well LRS-350-12 348W 12V power supply for compatible legacy 12V barrel-input hardware and properly engineered distribution.
- Mean Well LRS-600-12 600W 12V power supply for high-current 12V distribution with correctly sized and individually protected branches.
The pigtail is not a regulator, fuse, current limiter, or polarity protector. Do not connect it directly to AC mains. Ring or fork terminals, distribution hardware, enclosure, strain relief, and branch protection are not included.
Installation Checklist
- Disconnect AC input and verify the supply is de-energized.
- Set and meter the DC output at the exact voltage required by the connected miner, either 5V or 12V, before making the connection.
- Confirm center-positive polarity at the barrel plug with a multimeter.
- Terminate red to V+ and black to V− using hardware rated for the conductor, terminal block, and current.
- Add correctly sized branch protection near the source and secure the cable with strain relief.
- Start at stock miner settings; inspect voltage at the miner and connector temperature under sustained load.
