Compatibility: Match the Board, Not Just the Miner Name
Official open-hardware files identify BM1370 as the ASIC family used by the Bitaxe Gamma and related designs. They also state that BM1370 has a different footprint and pinout from earlier Bitaxe ASIC generations. Before ordering for repair, compare the exact PCB revision, schematic/BOM, installed-chip marking, orientation, and land pattern.
| Board family | BM1370 configuration | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Bitaxe Gamma 600 series | One BM1370 | Board revision, footprint, chip orientation, and the failure diagnosis. |
| Bitaxe Gamma Duo 650 | Two BM1370-family ASICs | Exact Duo PCB revision and which ASIC position requires service. |
| Bitaxe GT 800 series | Two BM1370 ASICs | Exact hardware revision, placement, and board-specific assembly files. |
| Nerdaxe Gamma | One BM1370 | Nerdaxe Gamma branch/revision, footprint, and orientation. |
| NerdQaxe++ | Four BM1370 ASICs | Exact NerdQaxe++ revision, failed chip position, and surrounding power/clock chain. |
Not compatible merely because a board is called Bitaxe or Nerdaxe: older Max, Ultra, Supra, Nerdaxe Ultra, and NerdQaxe+ designs use different ASIC families and layouts. The newer Naja Duo uses BM1373 ASICs and should not be treated as a BM1370 replacement target.
Performance Depends on the Complete Miner
A bare ASIC has no standalone hashrate. The official Bitaxe Gamma project uses one BM1370 and discusses approximately 1.2 TH/s as a board-level design reference. Actual hashrate, efficiency, stability, temperature, and tuning range depend on silicon variation, PCB power delivery, clocking, firmware, voltage, cooling, mounting, and ambient conditions. This listing does not guarantee a particular TH/s or J/TH result from an individual component.
Before Installation
- Confirm the existing chip and replacement are the same required BM1370 variant for the exact board revision.
- Diagnose the miner first. Power delivery, clocks, solder joints, temperature sensing, firmware, or another ASIC in the chain can produce similar symptoms.
- Use ESD-safe handling and keep the component protected until the technician is ready to install it.
- Record package orientation and board markings before removing the old component.
- Use the PCB designer’s current assembly files and a controlled process appropriate for the board and component. Do not rely on a generic temperature recipe.
- Inspect alignment and joints before power-up, then test initially at the board’s stock settings with proper cooling.
Installation is an irreversible electronic-component process and may affect return or warranty eligibility. Inspect the unopened component and review the Solo Satoshi refund, return, and warranty policy before soldering or reflow work.
